You are invited to participate in a research study that aims to understand how individuals interact with and respond to digital media. Before you decide to participate, it is important for you to understand why the research is being done and what it will involve. Please read the following information carefully.
This study involves the analysis of participant reactions to various types of digital media. The purpose is to explore emotional and psychological responses to a wide variety of digital content. At certain points within the study, you will be asked to record a video response. In order to participate in the study, you must be using a computer with a working video camera and microphone. Please do not take the study if you are not yet at a computer with those facilities. Please note that the study is not configured to process video or other responses recorded from a smartphone so please do not complete this study on your phone.
UofT Students will be eligible to receive 1.0 SONA credits for their participation in this study. All participants will get to engage in an educational, reflective experience regarding their digital media consumption.
You may experience discomfort or emotional distress from viewing digital media content. There are minimal risks associated with the recording and viewing of digital content.

Your identity and all information collected for this study will remain confidential. The recordings, photographs, and data will be securely stored and only accessible to the research team. The Human Research Ethics Unit may have confidential access to data to help ensure participant protection procedures are followed. Your participation is entirely voluntary. You have the right to withdraw at any point. Compensation will not be awarded for any withdrawn attempts.
The results may be used for academic purposes, such as publications or presentations, but your identity will remain confidential.
